Google IO 2022 Keynote Highlights

These are the highlights from the Google Keynote IO 2022 conference held at Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, California on May the 11^th, 2022.

Highlights:

1. Google keeps developing solutions to accomplish its timeless mission: “Organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”
2. To make Google products helpful in the moments that matter with breakthroughs in some of the most technically challenging areas of computer science.
3. Deepening the understanding of information so we can turn it into knowledge and advancing the state of computer science so knowledge is easier to access no matter who or where you are.
4. Build Google products to help you with accurate information and make your life better. Search, YouTube, Docs, Maps, Translate and Flights are good examples.
5. We are adding 24 new languages to Translate.
6. Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), geospatial data science (GDSC) and 3D mapping (3DM) are being used to develop new products and upgrade current products.
7. Maps has now a new feature called immersive views which allows the user to view inside places.
8. Maps and Flights have new eco-friendly, green option features to help reduce the world carbon emissions, doubling carbon emission savings by the end of 2022.
9. YouTube is offering new features using artificial intelligence (AI).
10. YouTube is offering video auto generated chapters to get faster and easier to the video part you are most interested in.
11. YouTube is now using speech recognition models to transcribe videos.
12. YouTube is offering auto translated captions to mobile. Users can now auto translate video captions in 16 languages.
13. This year we are introducing automated summarization for Docs using machine learning (ML) models and natural language processing (NLP) technology
14. We will launch automated summarization for other products in Workspace, Meet and Chat.
15. People quest for knowledge often starts with a search on Google. People make trillions of questions every year on Google search.
16. Google is working to make search as natural as possible, through multiple senses, using artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP), to allow people search any way and anywhere, in the most natural manner, using either text, voice, lens, images, pictures, videos or sounds.
17. AI and natural language processing technologies are helping computers to understand information the way humans do.
18. Google launched this year Multisearch. Multisearch allows you to take a picture with your mobile and make a search about it at the same time.
19. Multisearch will be available with “near me” search functionality in English worldwide later this year 2022. New languages will be added every year.
20. Scene Exploration will be added to Multisearch in the future. From single frame to a whole scene. You will be able to pan your camera in front of you and ask a question at the same time.
21. Scene Exploration will allow you to see overlaid useful information about the objects in the scene.
22. Multisearch and Scene Exploration will make search more natural and helpful.
23. Mobile Google Assistant App does not need any more the voice command “hey Google” to be activated. You can now talk to your Assistant in a natural manner with the new feature Look and Talk. This only applies to Net Hub Max and Pixels phones. In the future it will apply to all Android devices.
24. Google launched LaMDA 2, a new version of its language model LaMDA. LaMDA is a breakthrough conversation technology launched in 2021. In the future everyone will be able to keep natural conversations about any topic with their mobile phone, using this language model.
25. You can test LaMDA 2 using AI Test Kitchen App in your mobile. This app is open to a small group of people right now, but Google will be opening up the App to more people gradually. For more information about this conversational technology please visit https://aitestkitchen.withgoogle.com/
26. We recently announced a new language model called Pathway Language Model or PaLM for natural language processing tasks with a feature called Chain-of-Thought Prompting to increase accuracy using AI.
27. Google announced the future without passwords using Sign in with Google
28. The smartphone is still the most popular form of computing in the world. With machine learning and other advanced technologies, the smartphone gives people access, connectivity, information and knowledge any way anywhere.
29. Android is the most popular smartphone OS in the world. Last year alone 2021, consumers activated 1,000 million android smartphones in the world.
30. Google vision is a multi-device interconnected world allowing Android open source to communicate easily with any other OS device. Google recently launched Android OS 13.
31. Google announced the launching of a new product called Google Wallet to replace your physical wallet. You do not have to leave home with the phone and the wallet but only with the phone, because your wallet and its essentials will be inside your phone. Google Wallet will allow you access to your everyday essentials in a digital manner, inside your smartphone. Such as payment cards, student ID´s, boarding flights, memberships, transit passes, tickets, Disney Park Pass, vaccine cards and even start your car with Wallet.
32. Google is working with the USA government and other world governments to bring digital ID´s and digital driver licenses to Wallet at the end of this year 2022.
33. Google will add a car crash detection feature in the smartphone to help people with car accidents calling 911 in an automatic manner and giving accident locations.
34. Android 13 is being installed in millions of smartphones, tablets, watches and wearable devices this year 2022 with the idea of making an interconnected world with multiple devices, in an easy, helpful and useful manner.
35. Google Fast Pair installed in all Android devices will help you to connect all your communication devices easily and instantly, whether it is your laptop, tablet, smartphone, watch, wearables or smart TV.
36. Google Matter, an open standard, will also help with easy connectivity of all your home devices, like lightbulbs, door locks, smart plugs, kitchen appliances, HVAC equipment, and much more.
37. Google vision is to make a multi device interconnected world simpler, with the smartphone at the center and Android as the open standard OS, in an ambient computing environment, making technology easy to use either by typing, talking tapping or moving.
38. Google launched last fall 2021 Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, smartphones with all Google intelligence and technology available today. Developed with Google Tensor SoC (system on a chip), a mobile computer platform developed with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies.
39. Tensor will give Google greater advances in mobile AI technology.
40. Google recently launched Pixel 6A from $ 449, which is using leading edge hardware, software, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and natural language processing (NLP) technologies.
41. Pixel 6A has speech features such as Live Caption, Recorder and Live Translate. It is like having a personal interpreter and translator where ever you go, breaking down language barriers whenever you need.
42. Pixel 7 series will be available this fall 2022, with both Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones.
43. Pixel 7 series will be available with Pixel Buds Pro earbuds, with several special features developed with AI technology and several sound features for better performance.
44. Google will launch Pixel Watch this fall 2022 with Google Fitbit, Wallet and Maps incorporated to the watch, for you not to take your phone when you go out to do sports or other type of recreational activity. Google Fitbit for health and fitness experiences and measurements.
45. A new Pixel Tablet will be launched during 2023
